Bedale Point to Point

Saturday 9th April was a heavy racing weekend both with Bedale Point to Point and The Grand National at Aintree. McClarrons were not only in the thick of the action with our first ever visit to Bedale Point to Point, but helped bring these two prestigious racing events to one location.

Visitors to Hornby Castle, which hosts the days’ races, were able to enjoy double the racing action thanks to the “McClarrons Big Screen”, a giant monitor sponsored by us which screened all the action from Aintree. It was a fantastic day with a great atmosphere as hundreds gathered to watch Rule the World win the Grand National.

McClarrons’ Equine Account Executive and racing aficionado Max Johnson reflected on how the set up went,

“Although regrettably I couldn’t be there for the whole day following a fall in the first race, I understand that the day was a great success and that the team and all of the racegoers had a great day enjoying the excitement from both Bedale and Aintree. The point to point season is always busy for us at McClarrons and it has been great to be able to add the Bedale to our calendar this year.”

Based in Malton, McClarrons have strong ties with both the racing and rural sector, and while our team members are frequently in attendance to other race meets and events, this was our first time at Bedale point to point. McClarrons have been committed to offering support to the community through local events and charities, and Director Sean McClarron said what it meant to have involvement in the day’s racing at Bedale through the sponsorship,

“It is fantastic to be in a position to be able to support events like the Bedale Point to Point. With myself and the McClarrons team having such a close affinity to the sport, it is always a pleasure to be involved with these local events.”

Chairman of the event, Stephen Swiers, commented,

‘This year’s point to point was the most successful have had in the past few years. The big screen was a great addition, it created a great atmosphere and allowed not only the racegoers but also the bookmakers and people working at the event to join in the excitement of the Grand National. We are very much looking forward to next year’s event.’
