Home care work receives recognition at awards ceremony

The Great Yorkshire & Humber Care Awards are part of nine events that make up the nationwide Great British Care Awards. This year’s event took place on Thursday 23rd November and was attended by over 300 representatives in the care industry; with plenty of hopeful nominees among them.

One such nominee was Amanda Sanderson, a home care worker for Care Dynamics Yorkshire, who took The Home Care Worker Award. Sponsored by McClarrons, the award recognised Amanda’s support for her clients and the passion she showed for improving people’s lives.

Amanda said of her work: “I have worked in the care sector since 1987 but still fully believe that everyone has the right to respect and dignity and I am passionate about “quality of life for all”. My goal has always been to enable empowerment and independence. I believe you should care for someone as you would want to be cared for. I strive to make my life meaningful and enjoy supporting others so they can achieve the best out of life”.

Following the ceremony at the Queens Hotel in Leeds, the winners will now go through to the Great British Care Awards final at Birmingham’s ICC next year.

All areas of the social care sector were represented in the awards categories, from specialist services to residential care, and were open to both frontline staff and those behind the scenes who have contributed in other ways, such as through ideas, process and training.

Supported by national representative bodies and local organisations,  the awards give voluntary sectors, unpaid carers, partnerships and local associations alike the chance to be recognised for their efforts.

McClarrons Care & Social Welfare Account Executive, Jonathan Copley, said the dedication of not just the winners, but all those nominated was inspiring,

It means so much to us as a business to put our name to an award. We work closely with organisations in the care sector and see the challenges they’re up against, so for these individuals and services to not only fulfil what’s expected of them but to go way beyond is incredible.”
