On Thursday 14 July, McClarrons insurance brokers will be joined by guests from North Yorkshire Police and law firm rradar, in a Great Yorkshire Show seminar which aims to forewarn rural businesses of the risks of cybercrime and how they can protect against these.
This morning the BBC reported on the increasing threat of cybercrime to businesses and individuals, with the National Crime Agency (NCA) announcing that law enforcement agencies are losing the battle against online criminals; during 2015 there were 2.46million cyber incidents reported.
The government have said they will be putting £1.9billion into cyber-defences over the course of the next five years to keep up with the rapidly developing tactics of fraudsters and to manage the threat.
“These cyber-attacks include attacks directly targeting business systems and attacks against individuals” A spokesperson from the NCA said.
“This ‘cyber arms race’ is likely to be an enduring challenge, and an effective response requires collaborative action from government, law enforcement, industry regulators and, critically, business leaders”.
If you would like to learn about the risks of cybercrime and how to better protect yourself and your business, join McClarrons at the Great Yorkshire Show. DC Fiona Tetley from the cybercrime unit at North Yorkshire Police will be joined by McClarrons’ Steven Swift and Gary Gallen, CEO and founder of law firm rradar, in an interactive session on what is the fastest growing source of loss to UK businesses.
The seminar, which takes place at 12.30pm in the seminar room of Hall 1 at the showground, will outline key risks and the police approach to this type of crime, the legal implications for businesses affected, and the kind of support which is available to those looking to protect their income and livelihood.
There will also be the opportunity to discuss specific concerns and to network after the talk, with complimentary refreshments provided.
GYS ticket holders can join this seminar for free but booking is advised as spaces will be limited.
