How did you get to where you are now?

I started at McClarrons carrying out administrative duties, filing and answering phones. Shortly after, I progressed into working as a Personal Lines Account Handler, which grew my interest on insurance especially in business insurance. As the business grew I was given the opportunity to become a Commercial Account Handler. Through working hard and being a committed and reliable member of the team, my duties were increased and I took on the role of Assistant Team Leader. After three and a half years in this position, I was promoted to Commercial Team Leader where I enjoyed managing a large team, helping them develop as individuals and supporting the growth of the business. I am now Area Team Manager, overseeing operations at our Area offices whilst undertaking project management.

What do you do day-to-day?

  • Discuss client requirements with the sales team
  • Communicating business developments and changes to my teams by holding team catch ups
  • Organise training for new products, process changes and staff to aid team development
  • Review reports on team performance and report this and any issues back to management
  • Carry out one-to-ones and appraisals with team members
  • Building internal and external mutually beneficial networks
  • Overseeing project work
  • Working alongside the company’s Chief Operating Officer to improve operations
  • Assisting and dealing with HR queries.

What does the future hold?

I would like to continue to develop my own skills through further studying to support the company and my own, personal development. I enjoy working alongside our Chief Operating Officer working to improve efficiencies and operations through Project Management which I hope to continue in the future, all enabling me to effectively manage the companies Area offices and Personal Lines team at our head office.
