Helium London art dealer Jennifer McCormick and the influential underground art publication Pavement Licker (\u201cKing of zines\u201d \u2013 i-D magazine) have partnered to create an exhibition during Frieze week.<\/p>\n
\u2018Pavement Lickers\u2019 is a charity collaboration which will offer buyers a one-off opportunity to acquire an original artwork, each using paving slabs instead of canvas. All the same size, all the same price, each slab will be sold in a blind sale and will feature work from Turner Prize winner Antony Gormley OBE, and other internationally acclaimed artists including Robert Del Naja, Ralph Steadman, Pure Evil, Robin Eisenberg, Anthony Lister, Rhonda Drakeford (Darkroom London), Vhils and Henry Holland. The full set of paving slabs will be revealed at the \u2018Pavement Lickers\u2019 private exhibition on the evening of Thursday 4 October in central London.<\/p>\n
Those hoping to buy one of these 50 unique pieces are invited to register their interest at heliumlondon.com<\/a> from 9pm on 23rd September<\/strong>. The individual code that this generates will allow each registrant access to the buying portal when they receive notification that it has opened a week later.<\/p>\n Josh Jones and James-Lee Duffy are the founders of subversive \u2018zine Pavement Licker, which recently celebrated a sell-out book and featured in the recent \u2018Tearing It Up\u2019 show at Somerset House. The publication\u2019s proposition continues to influence their mission \u2013 to give artists a voice and a platform without agenda. Pre-dating the age of social media influence \u2013 Pavement Licker has been documenting underground art since the beginning of this century. Contributors to the publication have included Banksy, Pure Evil, Jamie Hewlett, David Shrigley and Shepard Fairey.<\/p>\n With this exhibition, Jones, Duffy and McCormick aim to show exciting artwork while presenting all artists on a level platform.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always been important for me to encourage clients to step outside of the society norm of knowing the price of everything and the value of nothing.
